My Cricut Craft Room's Card and Invitation Blog Hop
Welcome to my Cricut Craft Room's Card and Invitation Blog Hop
You should have come from Brit K. Designs, if not please start at http://mycricutcraftroom.blogspot.com for the beginning of our blog hop.
I’m a rookie, as you can tell by my blog name. This means that my work is much more simplistic than most you will see on this blog hop. However, you have to start somewhere, right. So here I am, participating in my first blog hop. Thanks Erica for inviting me to join in on the fun.
Here is my Invitation,
Happy Halloween!
School has started in many places in our area, and others will start on Monday. This only means that fall is just around the corner. With fall comes Halloween and costume parties. The weather this evening was perfect for a creepy Halloween party.
An invitation with matching envelope that I made which would be great for a class party or even a costume party.
I used the Wild Card Cricut Cartride and cut all of the pieces out at 3.5 inches. The card has three colors all from the DCWV paper collections matching as close to fall/Halloween colors as I could. What I really liked about this invitation was the capabilities for a child to make it his/her own. Once all the pieces have been cut, he/she could paste them together, then embellish as they like. I see glitter paint for the eyes, emulating the burning flame inside the jack-o-lantern. You could add spiders and spider webs down the side as well or hiding in the grass.
For the inside of the invitations, I used a white gel pen to add the necessary information for the invite. Here you will need to be careful of two things. (I had to do it twice, and still messed up) First, you will want to write low enough that the white ink does not show above the pumpkin when the card is closed. Two, you will need to wait for the gel pen to dry before you close the card. Otherwise, (speaking from experience, more than once) you end up with gel dots on the other side of your card.
The one problem I did have while making this card is the multiple layers of card stock to make the back and the front and still be able to fold it and make it look nice. After several attempts, I ended up using my Fiskar Paper cutter with the scoring tool, helping me keep the paper straight. I found this much easier to ensure I was getting the score line in the right place. I had much the same problem with the envelope below. Two layers of cardstock are hard for me to fold and fold straight.
What I really like about the Wild Card Cartridge is the ability to make your cards any size you desire. I chose the smaller size making it easier for kids to carry and hand deliver to their friends and classmates. For an adult party, I would make them much larger for mailing purposes.
I hope you enjoyed my card next you should go to Cuttin' and Stampin' Cards ~ http://cuttinandstampin.blogspot.com/
