Today we are celebrating a vibrant, beautiful 16 year old young lady who is a gift from the Lord. What better way to celebrate your 16th birthday than with friends. So I have asked several of my talented crafty friends to help me make Whitney's 16th birthday special. This hop is all about Whitney and I have asked my crafty friends to make card to send to her to celebrate her 16th- all celebrating that special time in life when a girl turns 16. I hope you enjoy each project along the way as everyone has worked very hard to help make Whitney's day special. Be sure to leave a comment at each hop stop to win blog candy.

If you've arrived from Ellen CardMonkey, then you are in the right place!!  If you've just popped in to visit my blog or are reading this via email please go to Rachelle's blog and start at the beginning...

To celebrate Whitney's birthday I created........

From the pictures I have seen of Rachelle's beautiful daughter, she always had a smile on her face. I thought this sentiment was fitting for her. The inside is stamped with a happy birthday sentiment.

Now you are on your way to the next party stop with Beth.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Birthday Whitney!

I Love Sketches by Tsunami Rose ~ May 19

Today is day nineteen for the month of May.

The sketch I used today was sketch number 31.

This is what I did with the sketch.

Plain and simple and made from all scraps! I downloaded the bicycle image from the Internet.  Added the gems also from my vast collection of gems.  I bought a couple of pounds of gems at Hobby Lobby.  Brown ribbon came from a card kit I had and had not used yet.   Sentiment shape was cut from the Lacy Labels cricut cartridges.

Please make sure you check out my DT sisters cards as well.  I know you won't be disappointed.

I encourage you all to visit and check out her sketches by joining her Facebook group!

The magazine has Creative Ideas for every day of the year: occasions, holidays, and celebrations including 42 unique holidays!!! These unique holidays are our inspiration. The May unique holidays are:

May Blog Date: May 19, 2012
  1. May is National Salad Month - Lynne
  2. May is National Hamburger Month:  Anita
  3. May is Bike Month:  Pamela
  4. May 1st: Mother Goose Day - Lisa Peters
  5. May 4: International Space Day:  Lynne
  6. May 5: Cinco DeMayo:  Jearise
  7. May 6: Beverage Day:  Kimberly
  8. May 6th: National No Diet Day - Laura
  9. May 7 - 12: Teacher Appreciation Week:  Lisa Peters
  10. May 13: Mother's Day:  Laura

  14. May 21: National Memo Day:  Pamela
  15. May 23: Lucky Penny Day:  Kimberly
  16. May 25: Nerd Pride Day:  Miriam Meserve
  17. May 31st: World No Tobacco Day - Lynne

The hop starts with Lynne (http://slasewcraftiness.blogspot.com/). You won't want to miss a single occasion!!!

This month I am doing two cards for this hop. I have had a busy couple of days so once again you get to see the more simplistic side of my artistic talents. My first card is for May 6th, National Beverage Day, so I went with something that my husband and I both drink, I the hot chocolate, and he the coffee, and tea.

I used my colored pencils and blending stick to add the color to this card, and a simple sentiment of thanks in the center. It seems people always gather for a good cup of coffee and a chat, so I thought this would be a good way to show appreciation for the drinks.

My second card is for Lucky Penny Day on May 23rd. This card has spoken to me several times this week. My husband and I walk daily, (to and from the post office) and on at least three occasions this week I have stopped to pic up a penny in the street. Who remembers the saying, "Find A Penny, Pick it up. All day long you'll have good luck". For that very reason, I have done my card with a penny background and the saying, "Find A Penny".

The line-up for May includes:

Lisa Peters: http://handmadewithlove-lisa.blogspot.com/ (Lisa may be up late due to a family emergency)

Stop by and check out these holidays as I am sure you are going to want to remember these holidays and include them in your card making projects!!!!!

We will have blog candy to the lucky recipient that remarks on each site along the way!

Thanks for stopping by and mark your calendar again next month to see what Holidays to Celebrate on June 9th for the next Calendar Girls Blog Hop!

My project today is a ...

I am a graphic artist by nature and love to sit and play with different techniques with Photoshop.  I took this opportunity to play when I made this card.  This card was completed all in Photoshop.  I used the Pattern technique when I did the umbrella.  I also used Photoshop to add the text to the card.  Simple . . .

There is a great line-up today for the hop and I wouldn't want you to miss a single spot:

Mulan Blog Lineup:

You are probably wondering if there is going to be a prize for this hop. There is. It will be a Disney animated movie but I will reveal as to which movie it is going to be at a later time. To be eligible for this prize, you have to follow my blog and everyone else's blog that is in this hop. You also must leave me and the other wonderful ladies a comment in order to qualify for the prize. The grand prize will be awarded at the end of this month. You get one entry for each of the 4 blog hops during the series of Walt Disney Animated Movies Blog Hops during each of the Friday's in the month of May. So if you just choose one of the Fridays to attend, you would only get one entry but if you choose to attend all four hops during the month of May, you get a bonus entry since you came to all four hops, then you will receive 4 + 1 entries, which makes your chance of winning the movie go up with each entry.

To be eligible, just leave a remark on each stop along the way and if you aren't already a follower, would love for you to follow also!!!

My project for you today is:

For those of you who know me or follow my blog, you know I am a simple person and this card is no different. I had a lot of idea that passed through my head when trying to decide what I was going to come up with for this project, and my mind always came back to this stack of paper. The Social Butterflyl by Paperage. Nearly every sheet of paper in this stack has a butterfly on it. I have used it often to make a quick easy card. I simply take a sheet of paper and trim off the corner to fit what ever card size I am making at the time. I compliment the card with a bow and call it good. This time, I used White tulle because I wanted a big fluffy blow. I finalized the card by adding some plastic beaded butterflies.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my butterflies and thank you for not catching me and letting me fly around free. I would love for you to stop and visit Inga - http://mommahobbit.blogspot.com/ to see what kind of butterfly enchantment that has been created for you to see next.

If you have just stopped for a visit today -- welcome and glad you came but I wouldn't want you to miss a single testimony along the way and would want you to start at the beginning with Lynne at Her Craftiness (http://slasewcraftiness.blogspot.com/). If you arrived from then you are following a mother's love.

My tribute is to all mom's and all those special ladies out there who do the most wonderful things for their families.

I am always trying new things, and as many of you know, I love flowers, but I am not the best at organizing them on my cards, layouts, or even floral arrangements. So, I am working more with them and trying to learn as I go.  However, a couple of friends sent me the beautiful flowers on my my card.  Lynne sent me the flowers on the bottom left corner, while Edwina sent me the ones on the top right corner.  Thank you to both of these wonderful ladies for the awesome flowers.

To create the word art for my card, I used the "Mom You ROCK" stamps from My Creative Times.  I took the stamps and organized them on my large Fiskars stamper, then used my small Tsukineko Dew Drop Brilliance black ink to carefully ink them.

I then simply trimmed to size and added the flowers.

I thank you for stopping and checking out my project and must send you on your way to Colleen ~ http://www.cbcscrapbooking.blogspot.com

Here is the full line up if you get lost along the way.
