All about the Guys Blog Hop!
Thanks you for stopping in and taking part in the All About the Guys Blog Hop. You should have reached my page from Laurie’s page, if you did not, please go back to Erica’s page here, http://mycricutcraftroom.blogspot.com so you can start at the beginning.
For my “All about the Guys” Blog Hop I have created a card. Many of my designs are pretty simplistic but eye catching. This card is no different, as you would see by the majority of my blog activity I spend most of my time making cards. So when I thought about what to do with my posting for this blog, I chose a card that would be suited to give to any man for any occasion. The thought is a card that is good for a child to give his/her daddy. The inside of the card is blank so you can add your own message.
I wanted to try something different. I generally do square or rectangular shaped cards. You can see the card is square, but with the offsetting square, it gives it a different shaped design.
I used paper for this card from The Guy Stack from DCVW. For the bottom layer I used a graph paper with blue lines. The top layer is shiny embossed paper showing all the tools that men use to do their jobs around the house or at work.
I used the Everyday Paper Dolls Cartridge to create the man for this card. I used the Construction Paper Doll to create the paper doll and the three tools that are used by men/daddies.
I used a matching blue textured card stock to create my 1.5” letters of Mr. Fix It. I inked the edges to create the look of dirty hands handling the letters at one point (some of them were harder to ink than others).
To complete the card, I cut the tools off the Everyday Paper Dolls Cartridge and used pop-dots to add them to the construction workers hand and by the letters. I then secured the two 6" squares to a 6" blue card the same color as the letters. The card opens from the bottom.
As you can see from the above photo, most of the pieces of this card are secured by using foam pop-dots to pop them up off the page.
