Now, Onto My Project: A distressed gift card holder.

This was a quick project that i have been looking forward to making for a while now.  The cut for this cute little box is a Sizzix Die, as is the flower.

I used a saved cereal box covered with a sheet of green paper.  I was a little disappointed after I cut the box and started to fold it.  I used a sheet of white core paper, and when  I folded it, the white shows.  While disappointed, I realized, this was okay and I grabbed my fine grit sand paper and distressed all of the edges so it really does not show that much.  And because the item is to be recycled, it makes it looks a little more fitting for this category.

The beautiful paper for the flower is recycled paper that my Sister In Law Lisa made and sent to me. She sent me three colors, the two shown and a pretty yellow.  However, I chose to use a button and some bakers twine to complete my design.

I have had this die for a few months and tried once to cover it with fabric and I was unsuccessful, however, this time, I am pleased with the complete project.  Even if it is super simple.

Thank you so much for joining me today to celebrate Earth Day.

  20. Love your upcycled cereal box folder - the white edges give it a lovely shabby chic feel. Maybe dry brush white paint over the green, too - that would give it a whole different look. Thanks for participating in such a wonderful bloghop & Happy Earth Day : )
