Welcome to the Valentine Card Blog Hop for Cancer Patients ~ Day Two

Welcome to the Valentine Card Blog Hop for Cancer Patients. Cancer is a very devastating disease which takes its toll on the patient and support team alike. What we are doing with this hop is making Valentine cards to share the “love” with Cancer patients and give them something to smile about.

Here is a picture of a card I made to send to St. Jude. 





I kept this card quite simple because I did not know if they were to go to younger children or older ones.  I did not want any choke hazards. 


I used the color pallet of Pink, red, and cream for this card, and embellished it with falling hearts down the left side. 

We’re glad you were able to hop with us today as we share our love. You should have arrived from   Beckie   but if not, we want you to start at the beginning of our hop with   Mindy-   so you don’t miss a single card.

This week for my Kari’s Design Team posting, we were asked to visit an awesome blog and download a free vintage freebie.  Let me tell you crafters, if you love Vintage, you must take time to visit the Far Far Hill blog. Just click on the name and you will go to her web site.  Let me warn you thou, you better grab a glass of your favorite beverage, because you will be there a while.

It is no secret that I consider myself a rookie when it comes to paper crafting, and I will be the first to admit that I have a lot to learn.  I was way out of my comfort zone as I tried to decide what I was going to for this project.  As I browsed the many images available on the Far Far Hill web site, I kept returning to the cupids. This told me I needed to do something with these cupids.

I have seen other cute banners and I thought these cupids would be adorable on the banner, so I set out to design a Valentine’s Day Banner to string across my fireplace mantel.  I started by creating a scalloped heart in my SCAL application, then decided I wanted my banner to be double sided, so I duplicated my scalloped heart and welded the two pieces at the top.  For the fabric looking heart in the center, I took a graphic from the Far Far Hill website and printed it from my Print master program.  I printed another sheet of a matching solid color for the Mini Rosettes on the backside.

I used the fabric looking paper to also cut letters; these letters are dangling from the bottom of the hearts with tiny string pearls.  I also used these tiny pearls to make a loop at the top of the heart to hang the hearts off the ribbons. The project is not quite finished, because I still want to add rose colored ribbon bows and ties at the top where the pearls hand over the white satin ribbon. This will help keep the hearts hang straight, and it will help add some color at the top of the project.

Welcome to my Blogaversary

Welcome to my Blogaversary. I'm tired of winter and thought it was time for a "spring fling"!!! All I asked for the crafters was to do something that reflects birth which is what spring means to me in pastel and floral colors!

I can hardly believe I have been blogging and showcasing my crafts for a year now!!! I've grown just like spring and learned so much as I have traveled the crafting path. I am sure you will be as impressed with the talent from these crafters as I am.

I know it is only the end of January and we really haven’t had that bad of a winter (yet), I am still tired of it and I want spring. I love the fresh blooming flowers, the wonder lush green grass, and the budding of the trees. I love the full explosion of spring. Therefore, as I began to decide what I wanted to do for this blog hop, I decided to do a Gramma’s Little Angels Explosion Box. This explosion box will hold my pictures of my three grandchildren. As such, the inside layers are not embellished

There are three layers to this box, each layer a different color. I learned a lesson while doing this project. For the next time I make an explosion box, I will embellish the flaps prior to securing the three layers together in the center. It will be much easier to add the embellishments when you can lay the pieces flat.
