Her Craft Kre8tions DT ~ Pumpkins and Sunflowers

Its pumpkins and sunflowers time!!! What a great representative of fall. The Design Team's challenge this month was to choose a color - orange or yellow??? With that being said, they had no idea why they were even being asked what color had to do with their project ... hee hee!!! They then each got a file to think outside of the box with the color. HMMMM, guess its time for the reveal, huh???

As a Design Team Lead, I knew what was in store for the rest of the team.  Given the chance to work with orange or yellow, I chose orange because I knew I had more orange paper than I did yellow.  In the end, either would have been a really fun file to work with.

There are so many possibilities that could be done with this file, and I chose to turn the file into a wreath for my front door.   I used a straw wreath from Michael's as the foundation for project.

I found this awesome fall looking paper in a paper stack, my sister in law sent me.  I knew then it was perfect for this file.  I thought the little acorns on this paper was perfect for a fall file and to create my pumpkins.  After I cut each piece, I inked them up with a brown to add a little dimension to them.  I glued the pieces onto a heavy olive green card stock.  For the top layer, I added tiny pop dots to lift that part of the pumpkin up just a little bit.

For the Welcome I used some chipboard letters.  the goal was to add a little more color to the wreath as it welcomes people to my home, however, after I got them all glued on, I thought I might have needed a little bit darker color for the letters.

I completed my wreath by adding a rafia bow.  It has been a lot of years since I messed with rafia paper.  I had forgotten how easy it was to manipulate and create with rafia paper.   I believe I will be using it more in the future.  One thing I would do different is to raise the bow up a little bit on the wreath.  I added the bow with the wreath laying on a table, I should have hung it up to get a better
