How cute is this Odie card.  Doesn't he look like he is just as happy as  can be just to see that little ole' bone.  Odie is made from a Pattern from Paper Piecing by Nikki.  Please make sure you stop in and check it out, I know you won't be disappointed.

I made this quick card out of Stampin' Up Card Stock for durability.  I used a short length of red with white polka dot ribbon to embellish the corners of of my card.   This card just screamed for a "So Happy For You" stamp.

Happy New Year ~ Welcome 2012

Here is my final posting for the 2011 year. For this final posting, I wanted to share with you the fun happy penguins I have made using a pattern from Paper Piecings by Nikki found here.  I know Nikki have been working really hard the last week on adding new patterns to the store. I sure hope you take some time to take a look and grab up some of her great patterns. Her cute bears are so hard to pass up.  I don't know which one I want to work with next.

 So here are the penguins…. They are just happy and adorable don’t you think?

First, I made a tag to tie around the neck of a bottle of wine or champagne you take to a New Year’s party. The tag will be a nice keepsake for the hostess. I used the “You crack me up” pattern, which you can find here.  The back of the tag is plain so you can add a cheerful message of your own.  The paper I used if glittery (is that a word) to make it look frosty.

 However, I did not stop with just a tag for the bottle, I made tags for your wine glasses as well. How many times have you gone to a party and you had problems remembering which drink glass was yours. You are sitting around a table playing cards, or a board game and grab for a glass and there are two or three sitting there. I think we have all been there at least once, right? With these cute tags, you will no longer have to guess, your tag, designed with different colors will make it easy to grab the right glass on a table full of glasses. This tag is a sample of course, when I present these tags to a hostess, I will use small ball chains that allow the hostess to take the tags on and off with ease.  Additionally, it will keep the tag from falling under the stem of the glass and creating a spill hazard.  The tags could also be laminated for long lasting enjoyment.  I believe this tag also might need to be made a bit smaller for the same reason. 

I also made a wrap for a wine or champagne bottle. Sometimes, you want something more than just a tag tied around the neck of a bottle, and here is the perfect fit. For this wrap, I used the penguins from the “You Crack Me UP” pattern set, while the bear and champagne glass came from the “Happy New Year 2012” pattern set. Both sets are found at the link provided above. However, I wanted to bling it up a bit so I added gems to the crown of the little bear and I used Martha Stewart glitter on my ice berg to make it sparkle. I did not totaly glue down any of the pieces to allow for the roll of the paper around the bottle and to give a little bit of a deminsional look.

Design Team Project ~ Tuesday Layout

Hello faithful readers!

I am truly enjoying my position on the Design Team at Paper Piecings by Nikki.  I just love creating with the wonderful patters she creates.  There are endless possibilities for her designs. 
 For my Tuesday Design Team project, I have created a 12 x 12 layout to welcome in the new year. For this project I used the Happy New Year pattern set from Paper Piecings by Nikki. You can find the pattern set here.

I created three place holders for photos to be added later, and blinged out the 2012 with diamond rhinestones. The bear looks a little on the tipsy side, (don't ya think), which of course wasn’t planned, but it does add a bit of cheerful celebrating to the layout.  I completed the layout with the words, "Happy New Year".


If you are going to a party for the New Year, please drink responsibly and have a good time.

Monday Design Team Project ~ New Years Card

This week for my Monday Design Team Project, I created a Happy New Years Card.


The Christmas holiday has now past and we move into the New Year. This week I have been creating cards, scrapbook pages, and even some cute bottle tags, all for the new year.


This card I made will be sent to my grandkids. I used the Happy New Year 2012 to create this cute little bear holding a bunch of balloons welcoming in the new year. This adorable set is from Paper Piecings by Nikki. And can be found here. I really love the little bear over the glass, but did not think it was appropriate for the grandkids. Keep your eye on my blog to see that cute cut soon.


I wanted the card to be bright and cheerful and I spent a great deal of time going through the papers that I had looking for something with a celebrating theme. I think I am going to have to invest in some fun papers just for all the awesome bears Nikki has in her store.

I still think the little bear needs something setting beside him, but for the life of me, I have not added anything that really looks good without detracting from the cuteness of the bear. Needless to say, I left it blank. I used some glitter paper to create the numbers for my balloons, and then some bakers twine to create the strings for the balloons. I used gel pens on his eyes and his smile.

 I just love this adorable little bear, who would not want to scrap him on a card or a scrapbook layout?

Digi Stamps ~ Christmas Tags

Wednesday I showed you tags I made from Paper Piecings by Nikki,  today, I am presenting the same tags made in a different method. For these adorable bears, I used my Photoshop application to color the bears, I then sized them to the size I wanted and printed them out on my printer. Once the ink dried, I cut the bears out with my spellbinders die. Staying with the Christmas theme, I used red and green as my back ground colors. However, I can see so many other colors being used as well. Add a nice ribbon and again you have some great tags for packages, gift bags, or ornaments for your tree. Remember to date them so they become a keepsake for whoever is lucky enough to receive them.

I made these cute tags using the Very Beary Chirstmas digital set which can be found here. This is a set you won’t want to miss when it comes time to scrap your Christmas Memories!

Design Team ~ Tuesday Project ~ Gingerbread Christmas Layout

Happy Tuesday everyone!



Today for my Tuesday design team project I made a 12x12 layout from the wonderful Paper Piecings by Nikki. I used a combination of files for this layout. I used the Baking Memories as well as the freebie file Merry Christmas Peeker. This file won’t be free forever, so you better take advantage of it while you can.

 I wanted this layout to be simple and a way for personal pictures to be added. I like the Pink and Green colors. To be honest, these are not colors that I would have put together, however, after seeing a wonderful card on a blog I visited, I thought, pink and green do make great Christmas colors.

The pink polka-dot ribbons at the top were added in two corners to help frame the picture.  I liked this better than adding the normal photo corners and it added a little bit of color as well. 

On the tree, instead of using paper (dots)ornaments, I decided to use bling for a little bit of glitter and shine. The gems are pink and red.

While on the snowman, I chose to use google eyes and then black gems for his buttons.


The snowman, gingerbread, and the tree are all from the Baking Memories file and the Merry Christmas sentiment if from the Merry Christmas Peeker.

Paper Piecing by Nikki Design Team ~ Monday Card ~ Merry Christmas

With only a week left until Christmas, take a look at this was a fun card I made today. This is a free design from Paper Piecings by Nikki. (http://www.paperpiecingsbynikki.com/) If you are not familiar with paper piecing, this would be a great way to get started. The design is small and does not take up a lot of your time.

I have developed a new love for little bears; soft, cute, cuddly bears. This little bear was so fast and easy to make (I made him while I was watching a football game). Like the Sweet Reindeer card I made on Saturday, I laid out all of the pieces and cut them using my Sure Cuts A Lot application. I have found this to be a super fast method, as I only have to cut once before I start to glue the pieces together.


What I really like about paper piecing is you have a piece created by the designer, yet you can put it together in any way that you want to. Like this little card, I chose to divide the two words and make a two liner rather than just one. I then added the little bear on the words Christmas and finished it off by adding some sparkling snowflakes.

Design Team ~ Saturday Theme of the Week Project ~ Sweet Reindeer

I am really enjoying being a member of the Paper Piecings by Nikki design team. Today, I am adding a project from the Just Believe Christmas Pattern Set, which you can find here, http://www.paperpiecingsbynikki.com/category_20/ChristmasWinter.htm  I made this card for the Saturday Theme of the Week Project. Of course, with Christmas just around the corner, the theme is anything holidays.

I just love this little Reindeer and how happy she is. I wanted to do a little something more with her other than just paste her onto a square card, so I decided I would piece her all together in my Sure Cuts A lot application then create a shadow for the card.

I cannot tell you how long it took me to get this shadow part to work out correctly so that I could make the card base. I did not flip the back when I made the backside, so when I folded it, the two pieces did not match up correctly. I hate it when that happens.


I am getting braver while using my cricut machines. I have read so many blog postings where the user has cut out specific size colors and laid them all out on the mat and did one cut rather than lots of cuts. This week, after reading yet again that someone did this, I decided that I was going to try it myself. I learned a valuable lesson… you have to pay attention to the way the mat enters the cricut and how it cuts as well. I have found that when I use my SCAL application if I lay my mat down in front of my computer, it helps me. At least for now anyway. As you can see, I got a little close with the red piece.

Once I got all of the pieces cut, I sat down and began the gluing process. I also decided to use some pop-dots on the front legs to give the card a little more dimension.

I think she might need a bow around her neck and maybe some tiny bows around her antlers. In truth, I think she needs to be a little bit fatter as well, so you have more room to write a note on the inside, but all in all, I still like how she turned out.

Design Team ~ Wednesday Tag Challenge ~ I Believe

There are times when something you want to create just does not turn out the way you had envisioned in the planning process. This tag is one of those visions that did not turn out quite like I had hoped. Which of course only means I have to keep working until I get it the way I want it. Crafting is a process for me sometimes, I just keep going until I get the desired results.
