Good Morning, and Happy Saturday!!  

I belong to a fun group on Facebook called Her Craftiness.  For the month of October, we are doing a Link For Pink 2012 in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.  I am sure that all of us have been affected in one way or another by this terrible disease.  Let's all pray they find a cure soon.  

today, I have a quick little card I made with a combination of elements.  The tough looking bear is from Paper Piecing by Nikki. She is tough looking because she has fought the fight and won!  She is a survivor!!!!  The heart surrounded by hands came from the Cricut Cartridge Pink Journey. And the white border was cut using the Stampin' Up eyelet punch.  I embellished the card with pink and white pearls and a pink ribbon and a pink ribbon with a flower on the top.   (I wish I would have left her earrings off, I am not sure I like them).

Here is the card that I created from today sketch. 

Today's card was made using The Paper Studio paper for the background, called Large Sketchy Flowers.   I added a purple Eyelet frame cut from Elegant Edges, and topped it with a lace paper heart from Wilton.  I completed the card by adding a brass swirl and purple flowers.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up Bring on the Cake.

I Love Sketches by Tsunami Rose ~ April 18

Welcome to Day 18 of I Love Sketches by Tsunami Rose.

I am really enjoying the card sketches that I am using.   Tsunami Rose creates some awesome sketches and makes it so easy to turn the sketches into beautiful cards. I would like to invite each of you to  join our challenge and join the group here http://www.facebook.com/groups/106370486155916/.

The papers used for this card all came from my scrap bin, although, I do believe the flower paper is Stampin' Up paper. I cut the shape for my sentiment using my Lacy Labels Cartridge, and the stamp is a Stampin' Up stamp called "So Happy For You". The three purple flowers were purchased at Michael's.

Tsunami Rose Design Sketch #14

Diasy, AKA Tsunami Rose Designs has created her 50th sketch.  How exciting for her.  If you have not yet seen her sketches, head on over to her blog now and take a look.  I know you will love them just as much as the rest of her do.

To celebrate her 50th sketch, Daisy is hosting a celebrations contest.  She simply ask that you create a card from her sketch then link it up on her blog.

This is the sketch she provided.

As you can see, I followed it pretty closely.  However, because of the wordiness of the stamp I used, I chose not to add an additional sentiment to the card.  For the card, I used De'ja' Blue paper from The Paper Studio.

I have also added three little pearls in the top and bottom corners of the blue paper.   I also added pearls to the end of the lace and ribbon.

I used a lace eyelet and strung a blue ribbon through the eyelet before I glued it to my paper.  

I stamped the image using VersaMark, then embossed it using a Stampin' Up black embossing powder.  I used my Prisma Watercolor Pencils to color in the flowers, then blended the pencil using my Stampin' Up blending pens.

Scrappy EMT St. Patty's Day Posting

Good afternoon everyone, and welcome to my posting for St. Patty's Day.

Today I have for you a wonderful card I made from a sketch provided by Tsunami Rose. I am sending this card to my mom for St. Patrick's Day and I wanted something other than the traditional leprechauns and Shamrocks.  All of the papers used in this card are from Stampin' Up.  I wish I could tell you want the name is of the green floral, but I can't as it has been in my stash for a year now and I did not keep the package.

I love the green tones of the card, and the added pearls for embellishment.  I took the edge off the sentiment banner with three lace ribbon roses.

Kari’s Purplie’s Design Team

Welcome back to my blog once again.

For today's Kari's Purplie's Design Team posting we were asked to create a sketch and then create a card or layout from that sketch.  Crafty and Green created a beautiful sketch for us, which I decided to use but switch it around just a bit to make it my own.

Yesterday I posted that one of my favorite embellishments were flowers.  This card was no different, as I added flowers to it as well.  However, this time I tried something a little bit different.  While shopping at Wal-Mart, I found these cool flower petals in the wedding isle.  What is even better, they were on sale half off. I bought them in both plain white and light pastel colors.  There are over 500 in each box.  I think they will last a while.
I used tiny purple and ivory roses from my stash to complete the center of the design.

Sorry for the ugly craft mat - it sure is well used and really does protect my dining room table. 

To make my flowers, I used a dab of hot glue in the center of the petal, I then added the tiny rose and cupped it up around the bottom of the tiny rose.  I then added a second petal by gluing it offset from the first one.  I really like how they turned out.

My sister in law, Lisa over at My Crafty Spaces gave me these awesome Easter images and I thought this sketch would be a great time to try one out.  I had tried to create the image using my RubOnz, but I did not have much luck.  so I had to rethink my idea.  I ended printing the design out on yellow Stampin' Up card stock, then cutting the shape out using my Sizzix Die.  However, I wanted something different, so I used my metal straight edge and my trusty exacto knife and I sliced off the top and bottom portions of the cut, giving it a square look rather than the pointed look it would normally have.

I then did the same thing with my Happy Easter sentiment.  I was unsure how I wanted to embellish the sentiment, so I went simple and added two small pearls at the points. The Happy Easter Sentiment is Stampin' Up.

I was not sure I would like this squared look, however, the more I look at it, the more I like it.  It makes me wonder what else I can do to change up this cut. It provides a whole different look from the standard cut I use quite often. I am beginning to get a little more adventurous with my designs, yet, I still revert back to the simplistic side I am most familiar with most of the time.

Mardi Gras Parade Blog Hop

Welcome to our Mardi Gras parade. I must warn you though while you may enjoy jumping up to catch beads, doubloons, cups, stuffed animals--whatever! Please yell at the float riders "Throw me something, Mister!" Bring a large, sturdy plastic or cloth bag to hold all the treasure you'll be catching - if you try to put all of your beads around your neck, you'll have a hard time standing up straight! Be prepared: some people get so overcome with excitement they will occasionally jump in front of you to grab what a rider has thrown to you. Don't get into a tug-o-war....there are many more floats on the way! If you're from far away, some visitors hold up a sign saying where they are from.. our local riders love to see people from far away have a good time and will throw to them to make sure they do!


The colors of Mardi Gras are: Purple which reprsents justice; Green which represents faith; and Gold which represents power.Mardi Gras is always held the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is music, parades, picnics, floats, excitement ... and one big holiday in New Orleans! Everyone is wearing purple, green, and gold; and adorned with long beads caught from the beautiful floats. They sit on the ground throwing balls, playing music, having a picnic, and watching the crowds walk by between parades.

When I think of Mardi Gras, I think of the wonderful masquerade masques and the parades.  Someday I hope to go to New Orleans and join in on the fun, however, until then, I will just enjoy my homemade Mardi Gras mask.

I used a free SVG cut from Paper Yoga and cut it out with my good Stampin’ Up yellow and purple paper.  I chose this paper because Stampin’ Up paper is good and heavy and I knew it would withstand the weight of the glitter, sequins, and feathers.

Once I cut out the masks, I got busy gluing on all my sequins.  I tried many methods of gluing before I found one that worked best.  I tried tweezers, but as luck would have it, the sequins kept popping out of the tweezers.  So, I ended up using toothpicks.  

Using white glue (Allene’s Super Hold) I used to tooth pick to lay the glue down on the yellow portion of the mask.  I wanted to be sure to get enough glue, but not too much to soak the paper.  I then used one of my toothpicks and barely dipped the tip in the glue.  I then used that tipped pick to pick up the sequins and lay them down on the mask.   The process went really fast once I found a technique that worked well. 

One the top layer was dry, I moved on the next step.  Adding the feathers.  I looked at so many masks online, and saw most of them had feathers of some sort or another.  I knew I wanted feather, but I knew I didn’t want as many as I had seen online.  So, I compromised and added feathers only on the sides of my mask.  I thought green and yellow would be perfect to highlight the colors in the sequins.   Now, I wait as these need to dry as well.

While I was waiting for the feathers to dry, I moved into the final step, adding the glitter to the bottom layer of the mask.  This was a super fast and easy process.  I watch a Hero Arts video that showed us how to use your Xyron to help make glittering a fast and easy process.  So, I ran my mask through my 5” Xyron machine (had to turn the mask upside down) and added the sticky to the whole mask.  I then laid down the glitter.  I simply opened the purple glitter and poured the bottle out on the mask.  I used a craft stick to push the glitter from one end of the mask to the other end, fully covering the entire layer. 

Using my hot glue gun, I added a bead of hot glue on the reverse side of the sequin layered mask being careful to get around the eyes and the tips.  I then carefully laid the top layer down on top of the bottom layer.  Added pressure so the two layers would securely adhere.  I finished off the mask with a bamboo stick (a shish-ka-bob stick) for a holder.

I am now ready for my first Mardi Gras parade.  Who would like to join me?

Here is a  of quick card I did.  This is just the card front.  I am looking for things that are fast and easy to help people make their own Christmas cards.  So many people want to make their own, they just don’t want to (or don’t have a lot of) time to spend doing it

The process for this card is really fast and simple, I took a rectangle sheet of ivory card stock, rounded the edges then used the “Jolliest Time of the Year” santa stamp from Stampin’ Up.    I colored Santa with my Prisma colored pencils and blended them with my Stampin' Up blending pens.  I have really found this to be a great process that is fast and easy.  I was really intimidated by the process when I first started, now I am looking forward to expanding my color palate of pencils.  I bought just the small pkg of 12 to begin with because I did not know if I would like the process or not.   I completed the process by using some dimensional squares and adhering Santa over the top of the snowflake ribbon and added the cute little sentiment from the same stamp set.

Christmas Card

It seems like forever since I have posted here. Actually, it has been a few weeks.  I have been busy working on Christmas Cards and have done a few different ones I will be showing you in the next few days.   I also have been constructing a few things for a couple of businesses that I will also be showing you and providing you a link so you can get them yourself if you are interested.

I wanted to make a vintage Christmas card this year.  To me vintage means old.  I have seen some vintage cards that are pretty elaborate, however, I tend to stay with the more simplistic side of things.

This card is made with the Stampin’ Up set “Christmas Lodge”.  This one just screams vintage to me.  I love the lodge all covered in snow.  Because I wanted a vintage look, I stamped the images using sepia toned ink on ivory paper.

I really struggled with the colors for the card and the highlighter piece behind the stamped image.  I think however, with my husband’s help, we chose the right colors.  The paper is Stampin’ Up from two different collections, Wild Wasabi (the subtles collection) and Cherry Cobbler (the regals collection).

I positioned the tree toward the front of the page and put the lodge behind it to the left, leaving room for the scalloped circle sentiment.  Because I wanted the sentiment to stick out a little, I inked the edges and used some of that same ink to blend in toward the center.  The sentiment is stamped from the Stampin’ Up set “Bright Hopes”.
