Vintage Tag ~ Tsunami Rose Designs

Hello Everyone,

Today I have a tag to share with you.  This is my first time of making a Vintage Tag of this type.  I was so excited to try it.  I started with a picture of one of the Vintage Ladies from Tsunami Rose Collection.  I sized it a little larger as my tag is bigger than normal.  The tag is used to hold six flowers that I made for a flower swap.

I sized my tag according to the amount of lace I wanted to use at the bottom of the tag.  Because I am thrifty, I didn't want to cut the lace in the middle of the scallop, so I measured accordingly. Besides, cutting in the middle would just look bad, right? I used a nice vintage paper, which in the end you can't see anyway, but it is a nice thick card stock to help support the flowers I made for the swap.

I carefully glued the ivory lace down and then added the vintage lady over the top of the lace.  I then topped the vintage lady with the beautiful mulberry flowers to accent the colors in the background paper.   The tag looked rather plain, so I decided to add a bow in the top right hand corner.  I added tails around and down the left side and just down the right.  I use my hot glue gun to glue in place.  I toyed with the idea of adding a vintage charm to the bow, but decided against it as I thought it might distract from the over all look.

For my first time, I am very pleased with the results.  I hope you like it!

Though it is hard to tell it in the photograph, there are additions of  color on the paper behind the vintage lady that almost match perfectly to the paper I used.  You can see just a hint of the paper under the image.

Tsunami Rose Designs ~ Step Card

Good Morning Everyone,

Today I have a great card to share with you.  I have created a step card using papers Daisy created at Tsunami Rose Design.  I have always loved her papers, and find so many wonderful uses for them.  You need to make sure you stop in and visit and look at all of her wonderful papers and her awesome printable journals.

For this step card, I am using pages from the Petticoat Ephemera journal. and the Petticoat Add on Pages.   You can view the entire shop here

I used a template from the Silhouette store to make the card base.  You can find templates all over the internet, but I wanted my card to be a little larger, so I found one and then enlarged it.  Honestly, this way I didn't have to figure out the new score and cut lines.  I don't call it lazy, I call it efficient. Right?

For the base, I then needed to make the paper just a little larger, so of course, like I always do, I put it into Photoshop and printed it out as a full letter size sheet.

The pages in this journal are perfect for a step card.  Perfect graphics, perfect sentiments, perfect colors.  Simply print, trim and adhere to where you want them on your card.

This Bingo card is simply stunning and was perfect for the step card.  A beautiful young lady who is happy with who she is.   She chose happiness and to be herself.

To finish off my step card, I needed some bling of course, but not to much as it would distract from the natural beauty of the images and all cards need roses. So, again, I used a file from the Silhouette Store and made it much smaller to make the rolled roses.  Aft I cut out the flowers, I lightly inked them in pink to highlight the pink colors in the paper.

You won't hear me say this often about my cards, but this one, I really love how it turned out.  I like msot all of my cards, but some, let's face it, I like more than others.  This one fits that bill.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I hope I have inspired you shop at the store and create something beautiful yourself.

New Beginnings Printable Journal

Hello again, and thanks for stopping by my blog.  I really enjoy creating cards and yesterday I have the greatest pleasure of spending the afternoon creating cards with Daisy from Tsunami Rose Designs.

It is no secret that I love everything Daisy creates, and love that she is so willing to accept the ideas of others into her designs.  However, I must say, in the few hours that we spent together yesterday, I learned a lot about how to improve my cards.  Thank you so much Daisy!!!

Today's card is made using paper from the Tsunami Rose "New Beginnings" printable journals.  I love this new journal, and the soft colors.  To complete the look of my card, I used a sentiment from one of the digital sentiments found in the Tsunami Rose Design store, which you can find here. I complemented the look with a great bow and a beautiful lavender rose, (thank you Daisy for the rose).

If you have not yet taken the time to visit the Tsunami Rose Designs Shop, I encourage you to do so as soon as possible.  You will not be disappointed in the designs, and she truly has something for everyone.  Also please join us on the Tsunami Rose Designs Facebook Group

Thanks for stopping in!

You will find the new printable journal here . To add to the fun, the first 20 people to purchase the journal will get an additional free $5.00 to spend in the Tsunami Rose Designs Shop.

There are several pages we would love for you to follow, two on Facebook, the wonderful Facebook TRD Group! and the New TRD Facebook Page, the third page is the Tsunami Rose Designs by Daisy Collins blog page. Following the blog will provide you with daily inspiration on how to use the wonderful printables from the shop.

Here is how I created my card

For this card, I used one of the journal papers from the
Life Abloom printable journal.

I created this card by starting with a 6 x 6 ivory card base, covered it with a trimmed down sheet of the Life Abloom journal paper.  The flags were created from a light pink card stock, which I slightly folded and trimmed off at an angle for the pointed ends.  I added a fabric ivory rose and two small pink fabric roses.  I finished off the card by adding the sentiment on an ivory cut layered over green.  The cuts are from Lacy Labels.

My inspiration for you today: is the first sketch of the month, Sketch #12.

This sketch just screams elegance to me.  I was very excited to work on this sketch.

If you are a follower of my blog, you will see how much I love  Daisy's sketches, but also her printable papers.  I love that once you buy them, you have them forever and you can continue you to use them for years.

My Project

I will be honest, I am still not convinced that I really like my card design.  However, I have chosen not to remake it (and save valuable supplies).  The biggest problem I have with my card is the hard edge I used on the lace paper doily.  While I am not sure about the hard edge, I could not find anything that I really liked to cover it or enhance it.

to create the card, I simply used a white card stock for the base, and then layered it with a light pink color. I added the wonder crackle paper by cutting a strip and trimming the bottom edge to  create the flag. I used a pink ink to highlight the edges to help it pop up off of the pink card stock.  I then layers the flag with a Wilton paper lace doily, which I trimmed in half.  I embellished it with some tiny pink flowers with yellow pearls for the centers.  I had some bigger ones in mind, but I did not want to distract from the beauty of Daisy's wonderful paper.  I further embellished the the paper doily with some pink diamond gems.   I completed the card with a small Thank You sentiment between the points of the flag.

Daisy has so many wonderful papers in her store. Please take the time to visit and pick out your favorites. I know you won't be disappointed.

Today's Sketch

First I must apologize for getting my blog up a little later than I Had planned.  I had a few things come up today.   The paper I used for this card came from Daisy's Halloween collection.   Yes, it is supposed to be Orange.  However, when I went to find the sheet I had already printed, I could not.  I must have put it away quite nicely for safe keeping.   So, I wanted to print another, and this is what I ended up with.  A purple paper rather than the orange.  I really kind of like it too.  The ribbon and the doily are both Stampin' Up card stock and the Trick or Treat is a metal sticker.

I love Daisy's papers, and how easy they are to work with when designing.

What I used:  for this card, I used one of Daisy's great printables.  However, as you can tell, my paper turned out more pink then the colors as Daisy created it.  This is because my printer was running low on ink.  I started to not use it, however, I still liked the colors and I thought it would be just a little bit different.  Besides, I hate to waste papers. And I love how easy it was to put the flowers together to make it look like a picture window.

I accented the printable with a dark blue card stock, a bright pink ribbon, and rather than using the half back pink pearls, i used to flower shaped buttons instead.

What I like about this month's exclusive printable:  When someone asks me what I like about any of Daisy's printables the answer is always the same, they are unique, versatile  and easy to use.  Additionally, once you purchase the paper, you always have them and you can print as many as you so desire.   I really like how Daisy layered the beautiful flowers over the top of an atlas page.  The size of the blooms make this paper easy to cut into strips and piece back together for this card.  It is also great as a whole back ground for a card or scrapbook page.

I accented the printable with additional pink card stock, a pretty transparent pink ribbon, and half back pink pearls.
