Stamping Chef ~ Val N'Tine

Good Morning,

Today I have for you a posting from The Stamping Chef.  I have used Val N'Tine to create a nice birthday card that would work great for a masculine card.

This card reminds me very much of a young Marilyn Monroe singing while sitting upon her piano.  You can find this Val N'Tine digi by going to the Stamping Chef Store here, or clicking on her name.

I colored my digi using Crayola Colored Pencils and blended with Gamsol.  Yes, I know she is not perfect, but I still think she turned out pretty good.  I added a chocolate brown grosgrain ribbon, and three various colors of brown buttons. I completed the card with a happy birthday sentiment.  Thou, after I took the pic, I realized I used the wrong red piece so I am going to carefully disassemble and fix the sentiment.

Curly Sue ~ Sherri Baldy Stamps

Meet Curly Sue from Sherri Baldy Stamps. Isn't she just the cutest little girl.

It is no secret I truely love Sherri's Besties, and turning them into fun cute cards.  However, for some reason today, I really struggled with this one today.  I had a design in my head that I just could not duplicate on paper for anything.

I purchased a couple of new spellbinders dies at a great price at JoAnn's and really like using them.  One is the rectangle (Small Deckled Mega Rectangles) that I used for the sentiment. and the other is the great flourish (Ironwork Accents) that I used in the top right hand corner.

The stamp I bought on a sales with a bunch of other stamps and have no idea who made the stamps.

The roses are cut from the Close to My Heart Artsie cartridge.  I quickly rolled them up and used hot glue to secure them to my card.

The card base is white card stock, size is 5 x 6 1/2.

Teacup Tilly was colored with Crayola Colored Pencils, then blended with Gamsol.  I complemented the awesome digi with some Prima flowers and golden gems.  I made this base card 5" x 6.5", then cut two different blue scrap sheets of paper, diagonally and pieced them to fit the card.  Teacup Tilly is layered on a green card stock, then on top of a dark blue card stock.

Fairy Dust by Morgan Fitzsimons

Today I decided I wanted to  try a few different things with my digis.  While I like the end result, I am not sure I am totally pleased with the outcome.

Part of what I am not sure about is the stark white of the cut I used for the this image. I maybe should have inked the edges, but I was afraid it would detract from the beauty of the lovely digi.

I do however like the pretty white lace and the addition of the flowers, lace bow, and the black pearls.

I wonder however, if I should have added something at the top of the card or if a little white space is okay.

Bestie With Balloon ~ Sherri Baldy Stamps

Good Morning,

I am so excited to be sharing with you today another wonderful digi stamp by Sherri Baldy.  I have fallen in love with digi stamps and coloring them.  I have a passion to learn all the different methods I can use to create them in the most beautiful manner.  This adorable digi was simply colored using my Crayola Colored Pencils then blended with Gamsol.

I am so ready for spring and some warmer temps, and I thought this little darling reminded me of a nice spring day and a walk in the park.

I hope you enjoy her, I know I had a blast coloring her.  I embellished the card with some floral ribbon purchased at Michael's in the dollar bin, and a fabulous rose from my friend Daisy. The completed look is accented with two flat back pearls, also from my friend Daisy.

Bashful Bettie ~ Sherri Baldy Stamps

Bashful Bettie is as cute as she is bashful.  I had a blast coloring this beautiful digi by Sherri Baldy Stamps.  I love being on the Scrapbook Stamp Society Design Team, getting the opportunity to play with all of the wonderful digi's created by all of the wonderful artists.

I won Bashful Bettie in a name this digi contest, so please make sure you always add your ideas for a name when you see them posted.  You too could win a great digi.

I had a lot of fun with this image.  I knew when I first saw her that she needed to be pink. Of course, those of you who know me well, know that pink is my favorite color and I do a lot of my cards with pink tones.  However, being this bashful, I thought she needed a really pretty pink dress with lavender and yellow highlights.

Bashful Bettie as shy as can be wants to profess her love to her sweet heart.  So, after I colored her up using my Crayola Colored Pencils, I framed her first with a pink sheet of card stock, then layered that over a yellow.  both colors were intended to bring out the strips in the plaid card stock I used for the base.  I complemented Bashful Bettie with a bright pink bow to match her dress, a little bit of ivy to highlight the green in the plaid and the leaves on her dress then used a stick pin to hold the "I Love You" sentiment.  I topped the whole look off with three pink pearls in the bottom right hand corner.

Meet Mary Muffler by Sherri Baldy Stamps

Oh the weather outside is frightful . . . .  or it is somewhere anyways.  Today is a nice day here in my new home town.  I don't mind at all that somewhere (but not here) the weather is frightful.  I know many have been slam-blasted the last few weeks with snow and ice. For those of you who are, I hope you are finding ways to stay warm.  I know I sure don't miss all that cold weather and snow!!!!

All of this cold weather sends people hunting for ways to stay warm when they are outdoors.  As such, this wonderful Sherri Baldy Stamps digi is a perfect reminder of just how cute we can look when we go outdoors in the cold.

Meet Mary Muffler. Isn't she beautiful all decked out in her pink?  I colored this digi using my Crayola Colored Pencils blended with gamsol.  However, I used my Le Plume fine tipped pink marker to highlight the fur on her skirt, jacket, and boots.

The card is embellished with two white carnations and one maroon carnation as well as some very pretty ribbon and lace. Of course, it wouldn't be complete without a few pearls to go with the lace now would it.

It is not uncommon for me to leave a sentiment off of a card I make when I do not yet have a specific reason for making the card. thus, I don't have a drawer full of cards that I can't use.  I think she would make a great "cheer you up" card, or even a "birthday" card for someone.

Rowena ~ Dressed to Impress by Sherri Baldy Stamps

Little Miss Rowena, all dressed in blue, is coming out to model for you today.  Doesn't she look all sweet and innocent?  

I colored Miss Rowena with my Crayola Colored Pencils and blended with gamsol.  She is embellished with a couple of blue flowers and a "Totally Perfect" sentiment.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year, and may 2013 bring you much joy and happiness.  

Today I have for you a quick card that I made using the Happy New Year digi from Sherri Baldy.  I love the Besties Big Head Dolls.  I do believe they are one of my favorites to color. 

To color my digi, I simply used Crayola Colored Pencils and blended with Gamsol (an odorless mineral spirits).  I added a sentiment from Inkadinkado.  The paper I used for this card is from the Deja Blue stack from The Paper Studio.  The sparkling blue flower is from my sister in law, and unfortunately I do not know what brand it is.

Snowgirl Ragamuffin

Hello,

I am back today with a cute little card I made this evening.  This adorable snowman, I mean snow girl, is one of the Sherri Baldy Ragamuffin line of digis.  I would like to say the cute colored image makes me miss the home I just left a few weeks ago, but I would be telling stories as deep as the snow fall they recently just received.  Really, I do love snow, but I don't like the cold weather that comes with it.

I recently moved from the cold climate where they get snow, to a warmer climate (in the desert) where I hope to see little to no snow, unless it is on top of the mountain.

This cute digi is called Snowgirl Ragamuffin and can be found here.   While snuggled warmly in my home, I had a blast coloring this cute little snow girl with my Crayola Colored Pencils.  I imagine, there are many snow people creeping up all over the northeast with the most recent snow fall.

When I color my digi's with my crayola, I seldom ever write down what colors I use.  I just pick a color I think would be fun and go from there.

The pink and blue paper are both from the DCWV "the Cardstock Stack" ~ Brights with a white core.  Normally, I have a strong dislike for white core card stock, but tonight, I needed it.  I used a Stamping Up embossing folder, I then took a very fine sanding block and sanded down the very top layer to turn the flowers (aka snowflakes) white.   I polished off the card with a blue transparent bow and used pop-dots to bring the image up off the blue paper.  I added some diamond bling at the top of the card, but I decided I am not really pleased with the look.

Here are the two cards that I made to showcase Morgan Fitzsimmons' wonderful designs. 

The first card is a cute teddy bear duo getting ready to decorate their house for Christmas.  You can find this great image here. 

I colored this image using Crayola Brand Colored Pencils, then blended with Gamsol ( a liquid odorless mineral spirits).  I struggled a little bit with this image because I wanted it to stay soft and fun.  I ended up using to many earth tone colors which in the end, made it look a little dull.  I completed the card by add in a sheet of Christmas paper out of the Recollections Jingle Bells Signature paper pad.  I trimmed it to 6 x 6 size cutting it carefully to retain the ribbon looking swirls on the right hand side.  I then used those swirls as a means of attaching my candy cane buttons.  I  completed the look with a cute bear button in the bottom holding a candy cane.  

The second card I have today is a wonderful vintage image of a mom and her young daughter going to a Christmas Party.  

I truly love this image, but honestly, I was intimidated by the beauty of it.  I decided I was only going to highlight the mother and daughter duo and leave the rest as the beautiful piece that it is.   

I tried to retain the vintage look and feel of the card by using a sepia colored paper covered with snowflakes.  I then added the lace ribbon and a beautiful pearl button to highlight the ribbon.  Finally, I added the sentiment "Together with Family".

Joe Cool at the Water Fountain

Welcome to Joe Cool at the Water Fountain. Can't you just picture him lowering his glasses and checking out who is walking by?? Snoopy has many characters but today, we are showing our talents using Joe Cool whether he be at the water fountain, on campus, or just hangin'!

If you got past Woodstock and have arrived from then you have arrived at the right spot!!! Kudos!

For my project, I have made a cute Joe Cool and his friend Woodstock with a combination of using Copic markers for his shirt and the shadow on Snoopy, then I used Crayola Colored Pencils for the wall and Woodstock.

Sometimes life gets in the way. I am in the final weeks of the class I am teaching. This has prompted the focus of my project. I thought I would create something to honor the many teachers in our community. Whether they are primary grades, middle/high school, or college, the teachers help our young community members grow up to be very knowledgeable adults. We can never thank our teachers enough for all the hard work they do each year. I personally know it can often be a thankless job. As such, I have this great digi that I colored of Brooksie The Book Nerd, designed by Sherri Baldy of Sherri Baldy Stamps.

I know she is a book nerd, but she reminds me of the librarian assistant we had at the school I worked at years ago. She would sit on the floor with the students and read to them, ask them questions and really engage them in the books they were reading. This lady was remarkable, she also held a teaching certificate, but loved being in the library more because she could help more students that way. I thought this image worked well for honoring teachers.

Scrapbook Stamp Society ~ So Nice To Meet You

Here is a quick card I made using a cute image from Scrapbook Stamp Society.  This image is titled "So Nice To Meet You" by Sherri Baldy.  You can find this great digi stamp here.  

I am entering this card in the Buttons and Bows challenge.  You can find out more information about this challenge here.  I also entered this card in an "Anything Goes Challenge" for cards. 

I am learning new techniques each day when it comes to coloring my digis.  To color this cute image, I used Crayola brand colored pencils and blended with Gamsol.  The fun back ground paper is adhered to a green heavy weight card stock.  I thought the fun paper match well with her fun dress.  The digi is on a the same green card stock as the base, then off set with a purple to match the purple in the background paper.  I completed the card with a nice green grosgrain bow and three green buttons.

Scrapbook Stamp Society ~ Nellie's New Dress

Here is another fun card I created for Scrapbook Stamp Society.  This fun image called Nellie's New Dress can be found here.  I have always loved to color, and have renewed that love recently with scrap booking and card making. 

To make this fun card I colored the image with Crayola Colored Pencils, and blended with gamsol.   While I am pleased with my coloring and blending, however, I do believe I still need to work on my hair more.  Hair has always intimidated me for some reason.  Any suggestions you have to offer would be greatly appreciated. 

I completed my card by mounting Nellie on two tones of pink card stock, adding the same two tone of pink card stock in small squares in the top and bottom corners.  I completed the card with some white paper roses and white pearls.

Scrapbook Stamp Society DT Posting ~ Betsy Buttons

Good Afternoon, and welcome to my blog. If this is your first visit, welcome and I hope you return often to see what I create, if you are a return visitor, thank you for your support. 

Today I am sharing with you my first posting as a new Design Team Member for Scrapbook Stamp Society.  I have always loved to color and was delighted and very excited when I was accepted to become a member of this very talented design team.

When I started this card, I thought I had the perfect paper to use.  However, after I colored her, I realized, my paper was the wrong colors. So i had to improvise and change my mind.  It still all worked out okay I think.  

I embellished this cute digi with buttons from my grandmothers collection and little beige pearls. I completed the card with a Warm Wishes stamped sentiment and a rustic looking flower.

For my project today, I have created a card from a Digi file from Paper Piecings by Nikki. The specific cut file can be found at this link.

I used the wonderful digi stamp and colored it with my Crayola Colored Pencils. I used my Gamsol to blend. After I cut out the out the stamp, I mounted her to a darker pink sheet of card stock. To complete the card, I used a 6 x 6 card, and embellished it with three pink buttons, a pink rose, and a pink ribbon on her hat. While it is very hard to see in the picture, I used a glitter gel pen on her eye to make them sparkle just a little.

Scrapbook Stamp Society Journal Challenge

I have created a journal for the Scrapbook Stamp Society challenge.  I used a free image from Karen Valentin that you can find here.  I colored the "Witchy Suzie" digi using my Crayola Colored Pencils then used my gamsol to blend the colors.  I have been using colored pencils and gamsol for a few months now and admit, I still have a long ways to go to perfect the process, but I am having a lot of fun working with the process.  Which is really what crafting is all about, isn't it?

I really struggled with the process of putting the journal together.  I knew what I wanted to do, but was not certain that the process was really what was best for this cute image.  In the end, I went a totally different direction.  

To create the front cover of my journal, I covered a standard Composition Notebook with a sheet of paper from a Halloween Paper Pack my Sister In Law sent me.  I really liked the green with the tint of orange in it, but what really caught my eye was the bottom flourish.  This was actually on all four sides of the paper, but I only wanted it on the bottom.  I carefully centered, traced then cut the paper a little larger than the trace marks so I could overlap the front cover of the notebook.   

Once I got the paper secured to the front cover, I mounted the finished digi on a black layer to help it pop off the paper.  I then glued her on the front at a slight angle.   Here is where my whole process changed for me.  I wanted to do a cascade of flowers around the digi, however, the cascade did not work with this particular image.   I opted for a single flower in the bottom left hand corner. 

I must admit though, I did not create this beautiful flower. A few past, I participated in a floral swap.  This was one of the flowers from that swap.  Thankfully, Amanda Phillips added a business card in with her flower so I could properly give credit to her.  You can check out Amanda's work by going here.   Here is a close up of the wonderful flower that Amanda sent.  It worked perfectly for my journal. 

Of course, before adding the flower, I had to finish the back of the journal and add the binding.   I wanted the back to be totally different than the front, (thankfully, because I only had one sheet of that awesome front paper.  Therefore, I used a funky black paper that has orange and purple dots and stars on it.  

I completed the process by adding a black binding on the journal. Binding is about 3" wide and I just carefully wrapped it from front to back.  It is not quite even (meaning, I did not measure to make sure I had the same amount of black on the front and back) because I knew just where I want the black to stop on the front.  I was careful not to cover up to much of the bottom flourish.
