Bestie with Sunflowers

I have a thought process going with this image, though, to be fair, my thought process doesn't always come to fruition.  What started out as a card, has turned into a tag, with thoughts of what else I can do with it.  My processes don’t always work out, to say the least, but the fun behind trying something new and exciting is always on my mind.  Such as with this little beauty from Sherri Baldy.  Isn’t she (Img830)just the cutest little thing popping up out of a barrel holding a hand full of sun flowers. 

Coloring her with my Prisma Colored Pencils, (my blending is getting better) my thoughts were to add sunflowers along side her to accent the flowers in the digi.  As you can see, that didn’t work out. So I thought, we will turn it into a tag, and use it with a larger project I have in mind.  Think burlap and more sun flowers and hemp twine!

For now, some simple fall leaves and burlap flowers complete this project. But look for more soon!   

A Happy Garden

Good Morning Everyone!!! 

I am back again with another fabulous image from Sherri Baldy's collection. Sherri has so many wonderful designs that it is impossible to decide which one to create with each time I make a card.  This little doll is so  cute, and was so much fun to color.  I thought it very fitting for this time of year as many of us are getting our gardens planted and ready to go.

This little cutie I colored with Photoshop, with lots of spring colors.   How fun is that big sun hat with a big bow and lots of flowers?   As you know, I do not add a sentiment to my cards until I need them. This way, any card I make can be used for any occasion.  With Sherri's images, they are perfect for card and any occasion.

Start Each Day With A Grateful Heart

Today I have a card to share with you  I made from designer papers from Sherri Baldy Besties.   I sat and looked at this paper for a very long time before I finally got brave enough to cut it out.  The paper is digital, so even if I did mes it up, I would always have more to work with for the second take.  However, it was still so pretty, it made it hard to cut into it.

I have to say, the sit and wait, stare at the pretty paper worked well for me with this card, Though, I do not recommend it on a regular basis.    LOL

This is the paper I received this month to work with for this card. 

So here is the card I came up with this for my card.

I have started to use my Silhouette Cameo to help me create my cards and scrapbook pages.  I did the same with this card.  I love the fact that I can create a shape and add a pattern to it.  In this case, I was able to size and choose just the right part of the paper for my card, then cut it to the perfect size.  I am also able to pick a color from the image to use as my background mat.  In the end, I have a perfectly match card, with perfect sizes for my front piece and my mats.  I am also able to perfectly place my pieces on the mat to ensure I have the card I want.  

I have to say, this is one of the fanciest card I have made.  I really like it.  It is amazing what well design paper and a good cutting machine can do for creating cards.  Each layer is separate sheet of paper.

Big Eyed Bestie ~ Spring Has Sprung

This is the perfect image for me to use right now.  Img510 is an adorable young lady just perfect for spring.  The last few days have been so nice here, and the trees have started to bloom.   I have really enjoyed working with this Big Eyed Bestie as I enjoy the nice spring weather.  

Just look how pretty these trees are.  I took these pictures while I was out on my walk today. 

These pretty trees really helped put me in the mood to make a nice spring card! 

I colored the bestie using Photoshop.  I always struggle with this, but I always have a lot of fun.  In this case, I struggled getting the right colors.  Once I was happy with the coloring, I saved the image and imported it into my SIL software and traced her.  Once I had her traced, I added an offset and cut her out.   Believe it or not, matching the colors in the digi with papers I had was much easier than I had anticipated.  Made for a quick and easy card.  I complimented my card with with three tiny roses and three small strands of pearls.   The end result a nice spring card ready for a sentiment when needed.

Bestie Sling Shot Boy

I love working with Sherri's Bestie's.  I've not done much with her Bestie Boys but I saw this one and knew I needed to do something with it.  How cute is he?  I love the innocent look on his face. 

This cute little man was colored using my Prisma colored pencils, blended with Gamsol.  I also used my Micron pens to add a little bit of details in his hat, his shirt, and his cute little boots.

I used a new embossing folder I recently picked up at JoAnn's.  I love the wood effect behind him.  I completed the look with a simple brown button tied with brown and white trendy twine.

Steam Punk Bestie Candy Box

Today I want to share a fun project I made for Halloween.  I used this fun Steam Punk Bestie and created myself a fun candy box.  The candy box is an SVG pattern from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs called a Scalloped Gift Box. You can access both by simply clicking on the links. 

I have discovered a new love of coloring with my Photoshop application. While it is really fun for me, I do still have a great deal to learn with the application.  

This is a project that is so far out of my comfort zone that I required some input from my SIL and my SBFF.  Both were instrumental in helping me get the project completed. 

The coloring was easy, and putting the box together was easy, putting the design together was a wee bit more difficult.  There are some fun elements on this box.  The metal gears, the paper flowers, and even the hidden clock face with the metal clock hand peaking out.  

Once I completed the Scalloped box, I used the Stencils and purple ink to create a half clock face.  Unfortunately, once I added the rest of my elements, you cannot see the stenciled clock.  I added the tulle with some hot glue to hold it securely.  

I used the print and cut feature of my Cameo to cut out the digi, and add a black shadow behind her.  I then added her to my box with pop dots so she would stand off the box.  

I purchased white paper flowers, and used Tattered Angels glitter spray to color the black one, and Tim Holtz alcohol ink to color the purple one.  I was a little disappointed in the color it turned out. I was wanting it to be a darker purple. 

Sticking with the steam punk theme, I added some metal gears to go along with the gears in the digi, and a metal clock hand on the right hand side to support the stenciled clock face.  I finished off the candy box by adding some black lace around the outside of the lid. 

Here is what I used to finish this project:  Steam Punk Bestie, Little Scraps of Heaven Designs called a Scalloped Gift Box, Tim Holtz metal gears and metal clock hands. I also used I also used the Tim Holtz layering stencils Clock face.  Paper flowers and Tim Holtz inks.

Hello There . . . Sherri Baldy Bestie

Good Morning Everyone!

Today is my day to share a project with you here at Scrapbook Stamp Society.  today I created a card with one of the darling besties drawn by Sherri.  They are just adorable, aren't they?

The digi I used for my card is actually an Easter Bestie.  However, she has such an adorable little face, she just has that hello look about her, so I thought it would be perfect for a card I wanted to send to a friend I had not spoken to in a while.

Because I am mailing the card, I kept it as flat as I could to help keep the cost down!  I added some pink paper flowers around the sentiment.  I topped the flowers off with some small pearls.  I finished the card off by adding two pearls in the top right and bottom left corners of the card. 

I think it turned out darling, I hope my friend likes it. 

Chase Your Dreams ~ Sherri Baldy Stamps

Here is a fun card to share with you today.  

As you know, I like fast and simple and this one is pretty much just that. I used a fun image from the Scrapbook Stamp Society store and colored it with my favorite Prisma Colored Pencils. I just love the softness I get with these pencils.  

Once I colored this cutie, I used my Spellbinder die and cut her out.  When I did this, I also cut off some of the cup that she is sitting on while day dreaming.   I really like the cut and how this cut accents the beautiful face of the bestie images. 

I embellished the card with a cream colored rose tipped in Lagoon Close To My Heart ink, a beautiful ribbon bow, and then a nice line of matching pearls. 

The paper is really hard to tell in this image, but it is a nice floral light green and blue.  A pretty close match with the Lagoon ink.

And The Letter Is . . .

Good Afternoon,

Today I have a fun project to share with you that I am working on.  I say working on because I ran out of some of the supplies and I need to get some more so I can finish it up, but I wanted to share it with you anyways.

I am working on a door plaque for my craft room door using the Sherri Baldy Stamps letter K Bestie.  Isn't she simply adorable.

Most of you know that my favorite color is pink, so that was just the logical color choice for me, and of course, you have to mix that with one of my favorite flowers, roses.  The paper is My Minds Eye. Of course no project would be complete without some bling and flowers. 

I colored this adorable Bestie with my Prisma Color Pencils, but this time I chose not to blend them with my gamsol, I just simply used a blending stump to blend the strokes.

I say she is not yet completed because I want to add some pretty ribbon (which I did not have any I liked) to hang it on my wall or door, then add more floral around the ribbon.  The top spot about the little girls hair needs more floral, but I don't want to add it until I get my ribbon and add the flowers with the ribbon.  I am also trying to decide if I want to mount her on some green before I mount her on the chip board.  What are your thoughts?  Does it need a bit of green to pull out the green in the flowers?

Fancy Franny ~ Sherri Baldy Stamps

This wonderful image is Fancy Franny.  She is a wonderful stamp by Sherri Baldy Stamps.   I guess I have been in an orange mood lately because I have done quite a few cards in orange. 

For this cute card, I used a paper doily and used an orange ink to ink the edges.  Thou you can't tell, I did not do the whole doily, just the outside.  I think added a colorful bow and a pretty gold pearl button in the center of the bow.  

I topped the card off with a matching button in the top left hand corner, a best friends sentiment in the top right corner (sentiment from Tsunami Rose Designs) and three beautiful yellow roses in the bottom right hand corner.

Bestie With Balloon ~ Sherri Baldy Stamps

Good Morning,

I am so excited to be sharing with you today another wonderful digi stamp by Sherri Baldy.  I have fallen in love with digi stamps and coloring them.  I have a passion to learn all the different methods I can use to create them in the most beautiful manner.  This adorable digi was simply colored using my Crayola Colored Pencils then blended with Gamsol.

I am so ready for spring and some warmer temps, and I thought this little darling reminded me of a nice spring day and a walk in the park.

I hope you enjoy her, I know I had a blast coloring her.  I embellished the card with some floral ribbon purchased at Michael's in the dollar bin, and a fabulous rose from my friend Daisy. The completed look is accented with two flat back pearls, also from my friend Daisy.

Bashful Bettie ~ Sherri Baldy Stamps

Bashful Bettie is as cute as she is bashful.  I had a blast coloring this beautiful digi by Sherri Baldy Stamps.  I love being on the Scrapbook Stamp Society Design Team, getting the opportunity to play with all of the wonderful digi's created by all of the wonderful artists.

I won Bashful Bettie in a name this digi contest, so please make sure you always add your ideas for a name when you see them posted.  You too could win a great digi.

I had a lot of fun with this image.  I knew when I first saw her that she needed to be pink. Of course, those of you who know me well, know that pink is my favorite color and I do a lot of my cards with pink tones.  However, being this bashful, I thought she needed a really pretty pink dress with lavender and yellow highlights.

Bashful Bettie as shy as can be wants to profess her love to her sweet heart.  So, after I colored her up using my Crayola Colored Pencils, I framed her first with a pink sheet of card stock, then layered that over a yellow.  both colors were intended to bring out the strips in the plaid card stock I used for the base.  I complemented Bashful Bettie with a bright pink bow to match her dress, a little bit of ivy to highlight the green in the plaid and the leaves on her dress then used a stick pin to hold the "I Love You" sentiment.  I topped the whole look off with three pink pearls in the bottom right hand corner.

Meet Mary Muffler by Sherri Baldy Stamps

Oh the weather outside is frightful . . . .  or it is somewhere anyways.  Today is a nice day here in my new home town.  I don't mind at all that somewhere (but not here) the weather is frightful.  I know many have been slam-blasted the last few weeks with snow and ice. For those of you who are, I hope you are finding ways to stay warm.  I know I sure don't miss all that cold weather and snow!!!!

All of this cold weather sends people hunting for ways to stay warm when they are outdoors.  As such, this wonderful Sherri Baldy Stamps digi is a perfect reminder of just how cute we can look when we go outdoors in the cold.

Meet Mary Muffler. Isn't she beautiful all decked out in her pink?  I colored this digi using my Crayola Colored Pencils blended with gamsol.  However, I used my Le Plume fine tipped pink marker to highlight the fur on her skirt, jacket, and boots.

The card is embellished with two white carnations and one maroon carnation as well as some very pretty ribbon and lace. Of course, it wouldn't be complete without a few pearls to go with the lace now would it.

It is not uncommon for me to leave a sentiment off of a card I make when I do not yet have a specific reason for making the card. thus, I don't have a drawer full of cards that I can't use.  I think she would make a great "cheer you up" card, or even a "birthday" card for someone.

Rowena ~ Dressed to Impress by Sherri Baldy Stamps

Little Miss Rowena, all dressed in blue, is coming out to model for you today.  Doesn't she look all sweet and innocent?  

I colored Miss Rowena with my Crayola Colored Pencils and blended with gamsol.  She is embellished with a couple of blue flowers and a "Totally Perfect" sentiment.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year, and may 2013 bring you much joy and happiness.  

Today I have for you a quick card that I made using the Happy New Year digi from Sherri Baldy.  I love the Besties Big Head Dolls.  I do believe they are one of my favorites to color. 

To color my digi, I simply used Crayola Colored Pencils and blended with Gamsol (an odorless mineral spirits).  I added a sentiment from Inkadinkado.  The paper I used for this card is from the Deja Blue stack from The Paper Studio.  The sparkling blue flower is from my sister in law, and unfortunately I do not know what brand it is.

Here are the two cards that I made to showcase Morgan Fitzsimmons' wonderful designs. 

The first card is a cute teddy bear duo getting ready to decorate their house for Christmas.  You can find this great image here. 

I colored this image using Crayola Brand Colored Pencils, then blended with Gamsol ( a liquid odorless mineral spirits).  I struggled a little bit with this image because I wanted it to stay soft and fun.  I ended up using to many earth tone colors which in the end, made it look a little dull.  I completed the card by add in a sheet of Christmas paper out of the Recollections Jingle Bells Signature paper pad.  I trimmed it to 6 x 6 size cutting it carefully to retain the ribbon looking swirls on the right hand side.  I then used those swirls as a means of attaching my candy cane buttons.  I  completed the look with a cute bear button in the bottom holding a candy cane.  

The second card I have today is a wonderful vintage image of a mom and her young daughter going to a Christmas Party.  

I truly love this image, but honestly, I was intimidated by the beauty of it.  I decided I was only going to highlight the mother and daughter duo and leave the rest as the beautiful piece that it is.   

I tried to retain the vintage look and feel of the card by using a sepia colored paper covered with snowflakes.  I then added the lace ribbon and a beautiful pearl button to highlight the ribbon.  Finally, I added the sentiment "Together with Family".

This image was colored with Crayola Brand Colored Pencils and blended with Gamsol.

Sometimes life gets in the way. I am in the final weeks of the class I am teaching. This has prompted the focus of my project. I thought I would create something to honor the many teachers in our community. Whether they are primary grades, middle/high school, or college, the teachers help our young community members grow up to be very knowledgeable adults. We can never thank our teachers enough for all the hard work they do each year. I personally know it can often be a thankless job. As such, I have this great digi that I colored of Brooksie The Book Nerd, designed by Sherri Baldy of Sherri Baldy Stamps.

I know she is a book nerd, but she reminds me of the librarian assistant we had at the school I worked at years ago. She would sit on the floor with the students and read to them, ask them questions and really engage them in the books they were reading. This lady was remarkable, she also held a teaching certificate, but loved being in the library more because she could help more students that way. I thought this image worked well for honoring teachers.
